I'll be going to the fair this weekend, and I'd like someone to come with me! Or, if you'd rather hang out some other time, that'd be great too! Im about two months into a reporting job with a local newspaper here in Anchorage, and before that, I lived in Arizona. I was a journalism student, and shortly before I graduated, I secured this job. So far, its been exhilarating. This was literally the first job I looked at when I started getting serious about planning for my postgraduation life. Moving from one of the hottest states to one of the coldest has been jarring, but its also been an adventure. Im really fortunate to have been able to get a decent job in this field before graduating. The hardest part has been leaving my friends behind. They were, and still are, amazing people, and I miss them every day. Ill never forget the time they all donned ski masks, broke into my house and dragged me outside, blindfolding and hogtying me before throwing me into the back of a car. Seriously, this is a great memory for me. It was absolutely hilarious when all was said and done. If nothing else, I was impressed by how wellplanned and executed it was. And no, they didnt kill me and take all of my money. Instead, they dumped me off in Mexico, which turned out to be my front yard. Instead of boring you with a million dishonest adjectives youve seen on other profiles, Im going to go at this Andy Rooneystyle. On my desk, I have a copy of The Grapes of Wrath that I havent touched in two weeks. Its not that I didnt enjoy reading it, but rather, I just dont seem to have the time to read it right now. Near my keyboard sits a bag that used to house a lifetime supply of various candies, but now contains only empty wrappers.
