Ever sit down at the computer and be so at a loss as to what to say that you just give up and keep playing spider solitaire, one game after the other? Youre really not accomplishing much, except time to think maybe, but its hard to give up. You know that eventually youll win. You just have to. What a metaphor. Sometimes I win, and then the fireworks go off and for a little while I am content. But then the game is over, and I can sit there staring at the fireworks forever or dwelling on the memory of the fireworks, or I can say yes, Im sure I want to start a new game, and here we go again. One thing Ive learned is that if you ask for nothing, you get nothing. So I keep asking. Set me up again. Show me the cards. You know how sometimes, back in school, the teacher was kind enough to let you write about anything? ANYTHING? I think they thought they were doing you a favor, but we all know that some direction is better than no direction. So, what to write about? Well, this time, I think Ill write about the zen garden. There is a nice little zen garden, complete with one of those sand and rock gardens, life size, with rakes and everything. But its the river that runs through itwell, stream really, or babbling brook. Sometimes flowing straight and clear with no obstructions, sometimes a slight bend, a bump, a correction. Pushed this way and that, sometimes with a nudge, sometimes with a force you cant resist. Sometimes so clogged with leaves and debris that it seems like nothing could get through, except the water does. Somehow it keeps going. You cant hold it back. And on the other side of the holdup, it may go over some rocks, or ease up into open water again, a little bit faster here, a little bit slower there. Onward and onward. Another metaphor. So its all about asking for what you want and having some direction, and then going with the flow. Wanna meet me in the garden with some cards?
